We were appointed to refurbish a school toilet block, creating a safe and secure environment for students within a set budget. The original facilities were in poor condition, negatively impacting the school atmosphere and student morale.
Our design prioritised safety by ensuring that each cubicle could only be occupied by a single pupil at a time, effectively minimising the risk of inappropriate behaviour and fostering a safer environment for students. The installation of a fisheye camera system further maintained privacy while discouraging anti-social behaviour.
To maximise durability and ease of maintenance, we selected long-lasting materials in place of traditional cubicle systems. Detailed planning and collaboration with the school’s senior leadership and caretaking team ensured that the facilities would remain functional and effective for years to come.
This refurbishment has created a secure and positive space for students, enhancing their overall school experience and providing a sense of safety and comfort.
Safety and security were key considerations, with the design ensuring that two pupils could not occupy a cubicle simultaneously, reducing the risk of inappropriate behaviour. A fisheye camera was strategically positioned to maintain privacy while discouraging anti-social activity.
To maximise durability, long-lasting materials were selected in place of proprietary cubicle systems, requiring detailed design work to ensure functionality and resilience. Comprehensive drawings and specifications were produced to support the construction process.
Close collaboration with the school’s senior leadership and caretaking team ensured the facilities were designed for ease of maintenance, delivering a sustainable, long-term solution that aligns with both budget and user needs.
